Calculate YouTube engagement rate
Media kits like to quote an engagement rate but rarely say how it was calculated. Look it up for any YouTube channel or work it out yourself.
Pick a channel to see its engagement rate and interaction rate from the last 60 days.
How to calculate engagement rate
Engagement rate relates a post's likes and comments to the channel's followers:
Interaction rate divides the same interactions by views. It shows how strongly a post activates the people who actually saw it:
We recommend the interaction rate. It relates interactions to the people who actually saw a post. The engagement rate, by contrast, depends on how many followers a post is shown to in the first place. Large channels and accounts with many inactive followers automatically score lower, even when their content lands well. On TikTok, where the For You feed distributes content regardless of follower count, the engagement rate says especially little.
